10 Canceled Open-World Games You Wish They Hadn't Killed

Sometimes, a video game concept is just so absurd that it’s plain to see why it never came to fruition. Other times, a winning idea just doesn’t get a fair shake, and it’s completely unfair. As far as ZTA goes, it’s a bit of a mix of both.

This obscure potential PSP title was the work of French studio Smack Down Productions. The idea was for an early 3D grand Theft Auto-like title, set during a zombie apocalypse. Picture GTA crossed with Carmageddon (pictured here) with some very dodgy PSP 3D, and you’ve just about got it. Not only that, but the game’s soundtrack was set to be completely ridiculous, featuring the music of “Weird Al” Yankovic.

In short, this one had the potential to be either one of the greatest things ever or one of the worst. Alas, we’ll never know which, because Smack Down Productions couldn’t settle anything with Rockstar and had to cancel the game.
