10 Companies Who Made Their Name With Shoddy Licensed Games
9. DICE - Shrek
DICE is known primarily for the Battlefield games, which can lay claim to being the only legitimate contender to the Call of Duty series when it comes to the online console shooter. Many would argue that the Battlefield games are superior, though that is perhaps a discussion for another day.
What isn't in doubt is the level of polish that the recent output from the studio demonstrates. While Battlefield has been their main focus in the last decade or so, the company's incorporation into EA has also seen them take over development duties for the Medal of Honor series in addition to Mirror's Edge.
While MOH's attempted revival may have faltered, the company has still managed to gain a reputation as a top developer in the modern era and millions anticipate every new addition into the Battlefield series.
The Worst Game - Times weren't always so good for DICE as the team spent many a year developing forgettable racing titles before striking gold with Battlefield. Perhaps the most egregious of their sins was the awful Shrek, which was a launch title for the original Xbox way back in 2001 before finding its way onto the GameCube a year later. The title was lauded for its graphics but everything else was sub-standard at best. The unresponsive controls stuck in the craw of most gamers and it was quickly forgotten.
