Despite how utterly teeming with life Skyrim is, fans have remained utterly fixated over the years with the infamous Bug Jar Mystery, where five jars containing various bugs - a bee, butterfly, dragonfly, moth, and torchbug - can be found scattered around Skyrim.

What's especially curious is that each of the jars has a unique symbol etched into the lid, suggesting there's some sort of unique quality linking them together, and a wider meaning for players to discover.

There are numerous working theories ranging from the crackpot to the believable, one of the more prominent of which is that the symbols are runes which require translation.

But back in 2017, level designer Ryan Jenkins shed some crucial light on the situation by revealing that the jars were part of a quest which was scrapped during production.

He didn't, however, reveal what the etchings on the lids of the jars meant, ensuring the mystery still lives on.
