Sometimes all it takes is one bad day!

In a typical video game, your characters and all their allies are heroes through and through, and nothing that happens in the story can change that.

However, sometimes this age-old rule can be broken, and although the hero is on the side of the good the entire time, one moment can suddenly break them and push them down the path of evil.

Yes, sometimes all it takes for the hero to lose their morality is one really bad day. A quick twist of fate, a moment of bad luck, or an unexpected break of trust are all things that can ruin even the noblest of characters.

Now, it might hurt to see your favorite characters undergo such drastic and shocking change, but on the other hand, seeing the good suddenly turn into the bad is also a pretty rare occurrence that can make the story of a game feel a lot more interesting.

Not everyone is meant to stay good forever. Some heroes can become their worst nightmare in one quick moment, and if you're curious to see when they experienced their breaking point, the following list is for you!

10. Ellie Williams - The Last Of Us Part II

Ellie's and Joel's relationship in the first Last of Us game is so sweet, you could almost forget the game takes place twenty years into a horrifying, mushroom-induced zombie apocalypse. Ellie is an inquisitive and fun-loving young girl that acts as an adoptive daughter to Joel and brings some much-needed joy into his bleak life.

This is why her transformation into a ruthless killing machine in the sequel hits you in the gut like Abby's golf club, but her bond with Joel is also why this change makes total sense.

Just as Joel was willing to shoot up an entire hospital to protect Ellie, so is she ready to do anything for him when she grows up in the sequel.

Their father-daughter bond is really strong, which is why when Joel is killed right in front of her eyes by Abby, it turns her into a vengeful villain that is willing to do anything to kill her foster father's murderer.

And while her lust for revenge is understandable (after all, almost every player loves Joel, too), it's also undeniable that it turns her into something far worse than Abby, as she murders her way through entire communities of survivors just to get to her target.
