10 Lost Gaming Characters HIDDEN In Video Games
4. Earthworm Jim - Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest
Nothing sucks more than when a cheeky little barbed dig becomes self-fulfilling prophecy.
But that's exactly what's happened to the eponymous worm in a super suit, after having fun poked at him in Donkey Kong Country 2. Being called a "No Hoper" is unfortunately what happened to Jim's last game, the poorly received Earthworm Jim 3D.
The leap to 3D gaming was not kind on a lot of gaming mascots, seen as such a mighty fall for the pedigree the two great titles brought before it. It was big, bold and ugly, with our inadvertent hero not heading up his own game since (HD re-release of the first game notwithstanding).
Which is funny, almost borderline annoying, that Sonic's red trainers were there too. Transition hadn't been kind to him either, but after returning to the likes of Mania, Sonic's slowly bouncing back.
As it was, it was harsh to see Jim's blaster cast aside in DKC2. There has been a new EWJ game announced for the Intellivision Amico, weirdly, but nothing concrete has been unearthed... yet.
