9. Emil Pagliarulo Wrote The Infamous "Arrow In The Knee" Line

It's been theorised the now-legendary "I used to [insert adventurous quip here], but then I took an arrow to the knee" line, was inspired by Patrick Rothfuss' novel, The Name of the Wind. However, Kotaku revealed through an interview with Lead Director Todd Howard, that the line was written by Pagliarulo as an attempt to make the guards feel more human and relatable, intended to actually reflect your own character's interests and time in the world.
