10 More Video Game Bosses That React To You Being A Jerk
8. Chronos - Hades II
Now, pausing the game during a boss fight is pretty damn low down on the totem pole of jerky infractions. After all, who among us hasn't paused a game to go to the toilet, answer the phone, or just deal with the unexpected rigours of everyday life?
But there are levels to this, for sure.
Case in point, in Hades II, if you decide to pause your game during the boss fight with Chronos, he'll mock you for believing you can "control the flow of time" and respond by unexpectedly un-pausing the game.
Pretty harsh, especially as pausing is a basic accessibility feature, right?
Well, players can fight back by using an incantation which allows them to re-pause the game, causing Chronos to express surprise that you've managed to leave him "stuck" in time.
That's all well and good, though if you abuse this power by repeatedly pausing and un-pausing the game, Chronos will get increasingly pissed off, with dozens of lines having been recorded of Chronos resigning himself to being trapped in the pause menu.
Amid complaints about accessibility - especially as the incantations can only be unlocked by beating Chronos several times - developer Supergiant ultimately patched the boss fight so that Chronos wouldn't un-pause your game, but merely complain whenever you paused it.
