Video games are one of the most popular art forms in modern media. From first person shooters, RPGs, platformers and more, there is one for each and every player in the world. But video games, just like any other game, exist to do one thing: For the player to win.

During recent times, beating game usually rewards you with a special cutscene. To reward players for all the sweat and tears they may have shed from playing, these endings usually provide closure for the player character or their allies.

But sometimes, other video games offer a special incentive for players who do the opposite. For those who fail or are curious to do so, there are these optional bad endings that players can witness.

While these are usually not the proper ending to the game's narrative, it can still be as entertaining as the true conclusion. The endings presented here then will be filled with story spoilers so those who haven't played these should be wary.

Knuckles' Chaotix is a Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off released in 1995 for the Sega 32X. The game stars Knuckles the Echidna, Sonic's rival from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The game also introduces future Sonic staples such as Vector the Crocodile, Charmy Bee and Espio the Chameleon. Despite the huge cast however, the game has been forgotten though its ending is noteworthy for the series.

Sonic games usually task the player to collect the Chaos Emeralds. In order to obtain them, there is usually a Special Stage to beat in order to get the 7 gems. Failing to get the Emeralds often result in Dr. Robotnik taunting the player at the end of the games.

While Knuckles' Chaotix ends with the doctor taunting the player as always, things take a turn for the worse. Failing to obtain the game's version of the Emeralds; the Chaos Rings, results in a nightmare inducing sight. This sight is the game's bad ending.

With creepy music, the player gets to witness a city in flames. As it burns everywhere, a super powered version of Metal Sonic looms over the destruction.
