10 Pointless (Yet Awesome) Character Abilities In Video Games

3. Overcooked - Swearing

Is there anything worse than cooking? Whether its cutting onions that send your eyes into meltdown, trying to heat up oil that spits burning globules of lava onto your skin, or accidentally setting fire to your oven glove whilst your hand is still inside it trying to rescue a cheese toastie - and yes, that happens to us all at some point, shut up - cooking really brings out the worst in us non-domesticated folk.

Whilst Overcooked might look like a cute little Cooking Mama moment in a lovely pastel universe, it doesn’t shy away from these horrors of kitchen life. Timing a burger to crisp just right is just as hard in reality as it is in space, evidently - and you know what? Your poor little avatar needs to let off some steam just as much as anyone else in the hellscape of a kitchen, so where better to take inspiration from than noted chef and celebrated wordsmith Gordon Ramsay himself?

Including a button that allows you to send out a stream of symbolic expletives makes Overcooked both painfully relatable and incomprehensibly cathartic. Don’t tell me you’ve never snapped and called a bowl of soup a c**t.

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
