1. Charizard
Arguably Ash's most popular Pokémon, and certainly one of his strongest, Charizard has received a lot of love from the fans of the TV show and Pokémon Red game for over 20 years. Charizard is best known for causing Ash problems throughout his journey, and even costing Ash victory at the Indigo League. Being able to control Charizard in the game makes trainers feel worthy, and possessing a fire-breathing dragon is always going to be cool.
But Charizard isn't one of the best battlers in the game by a long shot. Take away its Mega Stones, and Charizard is easy to dispatch.
Similar to Articuno, a four times weakness to Rock moves means Stealth Rock can tear Charizard apart, and poor Defence stats mean that it will soon be finished off by a Pokémon that can withstand one of its attacks.
Charizard has high Speed and Special Attack stats that can see off many opponents, but it can't be relied upon to OHKO bulky opponents or out-speed Pokémon holding a Choice Scarf.
Charizard is always going to a fan favourite, but make sure to make use of its Mega Evolutions online, or else it won't hang around for long.
