10 Popular Video Game Debates That Need To Die
1. Video Games Are For Men
Remember earlier, when we were talking about debates that are so rooted in a ridiculous assumption that it's almost impossible to "win" them? Yeah. That.
Art is for everyone. Games are for everyone. People trying to make an industry more inclusive and more welcoming to others is a good thing. Alienating others with the same passions, ostracising people who are trying to support the medium you love will only damage it further.
This is not to say that the gaming industry does not deserve criticism, quite the opposite. From EA's lootboxes, Rockstar's crunch, to the rampant and widespread employee abuse seen throughout the industry, the problems are there.
The last place to take out our frustrations with it though, is on the people who share our love of this medium. If there's one thing to take away from this list, it's that getting angry with people on your level, the players, is a waste of energy.
The games industry is vast and ever changing. But these debates won't go away if we keep having them among each other. Save our ire for those in positions of power, then we can start moving forward.
Any industry can always get better, if you demand it from the right people.
