7. REX Vs. Ray - Metal Gear Solid 4

The script meetings for MGS 4 must have been amazing - literally it feels as though Hideo Kojima and his team took one look at their inevitably ceiling-scratching noticeboard of dangling plot threads, characters and objects - and came up with the most enjoyable ways they could think to resolve and connect them.

The ending Solid vs. Liquid fight is a great one too, but as this comes earlier - and is twinned with the original game's gigantic dinosaur-mech - we're putting this up there. Showing underneath all the questionable decisions Kojima really just wants to please the fans, having you behind the controls of the classic REX up against Liquid in the Ray is easily one of the most enjoyably 'action-movie' scenes in gaming.
