9. Super Tyrant - Resident Evil 2 (Remake)
The 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2 was a welcome entry in the franchise. The graphics, performances, and gameplay are top-notch. The most memorable and terrifying moment is when the player realises they are being hunted by the dreaded Mr. X.
As the hulking zombie slowly trudges towards your character, you have to decide whether to face him or run away. There are very few enemies in the series that fill you with as much dread as Mr. X.
If you plays as Leon, the game concludes with a fight with a mutated version of Mr. X called the Super-Tyrant. This fight ticks every box you would expect in a cheap boss fight.
Barely any space to move around? Check.
Tiny weakness that takes a ridiculous amount of punishment? Check.
Instant kill move? Check.
The Super-Tyrant is deceptively fast since he has a habit of casually strolling towards you before unleashing a lightning-quick attack that can half your health in one fell swoop. The only time you get a clear shot of his weak spot is just before he performs an instant-kill charge.
You have to decide whether you want to risk shooting him at this point, knowing that it's game over if you miss.
