6. Fighting Damon - No More Heroes III

Mr Freeze
Grasshopper Manufacture

No More Heroes III kicks off with Santa Destroy being invaded by aliens, compelling incompetent hitman, Travis Touchdown, to take matters into his own hands to save humanity. Like the previous instalments, the bosses are hilariously epic. For one of them, you are forced into a turn-based battle, much to Travis' chagrin. To defeat another foe, you must come out on top in musical chairs.

As such, you'd assume No More Heroes III would save the most bonkers brawl for the end. Ironically, the climax is where the game falls flat. Because the antagonist is a little too easy, you assume he's not the real final boss.

And you would be right. Once your foe is disposed of, you go head-to-head with the real baddie, Damon. And since this bout has you piloting a mega-mecha in space, you expect this to be one hell of a showdown. But because most of the fight plays out through quick-time events, there's no real challenge.

But it's not over. When that's all done, you'll face Damon in a Super Smash. Bros.-themed arena. But instead of delivering a showstopper, you take part in a really generic fight, that's wrapped up in under a minute. Because the rest of More Heroes III is so delightfully wacky, it's disappointing to see it end with a whimper.
