5. The Sims Franchise

And were back! Nothing screams mentally unhealthy like playing a video game that simulates normal life. In Sims you design a character, or maybe a whole family of them, and spend your time going to the toilet, sleeping, going to work, and deciding what wallpaper to have in your kitchen. Gaming is a form of escapism, of leaving the ordinary world to experience things you otherwise never could; so how depressing must an individuals life be for them to spend their free time in a virtual version of an average persons day-to-day life? Another explanation for the games popularity is that all its buyers suffer from some sort of inferiority complex, with The Sims giving them the chance to play as God and have total power over their creations. These are the players that lock their Sim in a windowless room and remove the door, enabling them to watch as the character soils themself and slowly starves to death. Or perhaps they could sell all the fire alarms and have their subject continuously use the oven until the room catches ablaze, causing the character to burn to death without any chance of rescue. Why? Because anythings possible when youre God!
