9. Darth Revan - Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes place 3,000 years before the original trilogy. Because this saga has no direct connection to the movies, you'd assume BioWare's RPG couldn't possibly leave the same impact as George Lucas' creation.
Thankfully, we couldn't be more wrong. Throughout the game, your character is trying to track down the malevolent sith, Darth Revan, who went missing years ago. Near the climax, the player discovers that YOU are Revan!
Not since Darth Vader said those famous words, "I am your father" has Star Wars fans felt more blindsided by any moment in the franchise. Because you can choose's Revan's gender, appearance, and Force path, it feels a lot more personal when the truth is revealed to you.
Even though Revan has left a permanent imprint on Star Wars mythos, the mysterious Force-wielder is barely a part of it. He/she appeared in a DLC of the multiplayer sequel, The Old Republic, but has been absent from the tv series, cartoons, and films. The character has had some canonical appearances in comics and books, but nothing mainstream.
Considering Revan became popular with only a handful of appearances just highlights further the effect the character has had on the fan-base.
