10 Video Game Cliffhangers That Will Never Be Resolved

4. Star Wars: Republic Commando

With EA currently squandering the potential of its Star Wars license (fingers crossed for Fallen Order), the days when we used to get frequent, solid Star Wars games feel like they happened a million years in the past.

Along with the original Battlefront games, Knights of the Old Republic, and several others, Republic Commando was another fine addition to the galaxy far, far away's roster of gaming offerings, an FPS set during the Clone Wars that lets you play as an elite Clone trooper, who leads a unit called Delta Squad.

The climax of the game is set on Kashyyyk, and has you attempting to rid the skies of a huge enemy ship hovering up above. In order to progress, you will succeed, forcing you to evacuate with the remainder of your squad. The final scene of the game is set inside the evacuation ship, where the trio of troopers are told that their mission is not yet over, and that they must "lock and load" to prepare for the battle ahead.

Since you're told that Delta Squad was only the advance force for a full-scale invasion, the insinuation is that there's a lot more action for you to take part in. The game basically ends halfway through the Kashyyyk conflict, which is frustrating as hell.

A Republic Commando sequel was on the table at one point, but it was scrapped, and considering that there are far more popular Star Wars video game franchises out there, the chances of EA resurrecting this one are slim to none.
