10 Video Game NPCs Who Could've Solved EVERYTHING (But Didn't)
5. Wheiskaet Rysswoerdsyn - Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Let's just be blunt about this - Final Fantasy XIV's Wheiskaet Rysswoerdsyn can go do one.
The player character is tasked with taking on the colossal boss known as Titan, but before the well-to-do Wheiskaet will tell you the apparent secret for felling the beast, he first requires you to prove your worth.
Such begins a soul-obliteratingly dull series of fetch quests you're forced to carry out for Wheiskaet in order for him to give you the secret to Titan's defeat.
It's infuriating enough that he sends you on a wild goose chase for flowers, wine, and food for a banquet feast all while Titan threatens to destroy the world, and gets even worse once you've finally done what was asked.
Wheiskaet then reveals that there's actually no secret at all to defeating Titan, and this whole tedious-ass rigmarole was simply a test to see if you were worthy to fight Titan.
Because compliantly fetching food and drink apparently makes you fit to fight a colossal monster, you then finally get the sign-off and are sent on your merry way to do battle.
Gee, if all it took was carrying out some mind-numbing chores, could you not have just rubber-stamped us to fight Titan and left the fetching and feasting for after his defeat? Jesus Christ.
