7. Super Street Fighter IV - Trial Athlete
Those who are truly dedicated to fighting games will surely have spent countless hours in the lab with their titles of choice. Practising combos, spacing, cancels and all manner of other technical aspects of fighters is essential.
To help with this, the genre tends to offer options a little more robust than a simple training mode against an idle CPU character. More recent iterations of the Street Fighter series boast Trials, challenges that push you to perform an increasingly difficult manouver and/or combo. They’re character-specific (each cast member has 24 Trials), some are fiendishly difficult and Super Street Fighter IV insists that you complete them all for its Trial Athlete trophy.
The sheer number of these trials is beyond daunting (there are 35 fighters to master in this way), quite apart from the sort of impractical feats you’ll need to pull off to complete them.
