10 Video Games That Punished "Cheesing"
3. Taking You To The Hardest Level - The Lion King
The Sega Genesis version of The Lion King was absolutely brutal in that it let you cheat, but then still punished you for doing so.
The game came with a cheat select screen, which naturally made you think you could put a code in for an easier playthrough if you were having trouble with the game, or just wanted to goof around. After entering any code and finishing whatever level you'd wanted to race through, though, you'd be taken to the second level of the entire game, which was infamously difficult to complete.
Many have suggested that this wasn't intentional, but rather a bug that was never caught in time that created an unusual scenario. However, you have to wonder if some morally upright individual in charge of debugging maybe noticed it, and maybe let it get into the finished product for karma's sake.
