10 Video Games That Reward You For LYING
3. An Interplanetary Deception - Stellaris
Stellaris is a grand strategy game set in space, and this naturally means that the consequences of the decisions you make in the game can reach an astronomically large scale.
This also includes lying, as you can technically deceive and manipulate an entire planet of aliens into becoming your loyal subjects.
One of the basic features of the game is planets occupied by pre-space age species. Each empire can choose several different stances on how they choose to interact with these less advanced civilizations, the most basic of which are non-intrusive studies and sharing your technology with them in hopes of helping them catch up with the other nations.
However, you can also choose the espionage approach and infiltrate their society by means of quietly integrating it into your empire. By bioengineering your own spies to look like the aliens and then sending them on missions meant to deceive and then slowly influence the species, you can eventually condition their population into becoming your loyal subjects, which will allow you to instantly subjugate their planet without a fight.
This approach takes less time than regular uplifting methods, and it lets you omit the equally costly process of diplomatic annexation.
