10 Video Games With The Most Endings

1. Star Ocean: Second Evolution - 100 Endings

Star Ocean The Second Evolution
Square Enix

The Star Ocean series is the true alpha of RPGs with multiple endings. Many of us were impressed to discover that Chrono Trigger has twelve endings, and so it's legitimately mind-blowing to learn that one instalment of these games has one hundred different endings.

This is the case with Second Evolution, which is a remaster of the series' sequel, The Second Story, which by itself had an impressive eighty-seven possible endings. Evolution added a saucy extra thirteen, taking the total number of endings to unseen heights.

Star Ocean is able to do this because its endings revolve around the various relationships built between the characters in the game. Each individual character is capable of building a friendship, romance, or mutual hatred with every other character, and each combo provides a wild amount of differing conclusions at the closing of the game.

While many fans have said that this technically might be better considered ninety-nine endings - because two of these hundred are incredibly, incredibly similar - ninety-nine endings still isn't a small amount by any account.
