9. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PlayStation 3)
The PlayStation 3 was a laughing stock when it first arrived in 2006; the gaming community knew it and so did Sony. They needed killer exclusives and they needed them fast.
It took some time to finally get back on track, but the moment finally came in 2009 with the launch of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The original game was a decent if modest beginning to a new franchise, following treasure hunter Nathan Drake and the wild escapades he throws himself into.
What Among Thieves did, was substantially improve on its predecessor in every way, to the point it rivalled some of the best action films of the time. The game is absolutely relentless in its pacing, thrilling with incredible set pieces and backing them up with excellent story work and voice acting.
This was a ride that could only be accomplished on Sony's third system.
2008 may have been the year of Metal Gear Solid 4 and LittleBigPlanet, but the following year was when the PlayStation 3 finally earned its success in the gaming community. It became the fastest-selling exclusive on a Sony platform at the time, and propelled Naughty Dog to the top of the industry.
