10 Ways To Make 2017 A Great Year For Video Games
1. Fulfill Your Promises
Watch_Dogs came out as a graphical downgrade to what we were shown at E3 all those years ago. Mighty No. 9 took our money and released as a broken, cheap imitation of a Mega Man game. No Man's Sky was just a wreck from start to finish.
Developers have been aiming for some lofty - maybe unreachable - goals, yet presenting them to us consumers as promises. And I say, "No more!"
Instead of showing us pre-rendered gameplay, why not give us REAL live gameplay. I'd rather see something promising and incomplete than something that looks great but is engineered to look great. As long as companies and game developers are up front with the consumer on what they are getting, then I think 2017 will be great.
The last thing we need are more games that end up entrancing us in concept and becoming a disaster at launch. 2017 shouldn't be the year of showing but not delivering, but getting the full package as best as it can be.
