13 Most WTF Gaming Industry Moments Of 2018
10. Nintendo Switch Online Is A Joke
Some 18 months after the Nintendo Switch was released, Nintendo finally launched their paid online subscription service this past September, which was promptly met with a shrug of indifference by most players.
Despite charging for a service which was previously free, Nintendo offered up precious few incentives to make the subscription dues worthwhile.
A fairly middling line-up of "classic" NES games were made available, but the added multiplayer had no online matchmaking, voice chat still requires a terrible smartphone app, some games don't support cloud saves, the special offers are a joke, and there's no sign yet of newer platforms also joining the Nintendo Switch Online library.
Aside from Nintendo blatantly leaving money on the table by not charging a little more for a robust service people actually want to buy, even hit AAA titles suffer from immense lag, and there's depressingly little sense of a cohesive infrastructure.
Where the hell are the trophies/achievements? Where is the Virtual Console replacement? Do you like money, Nintendo?
