13. Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Won't Feature A Campaign Mode
Eyebrows were collectively raised by Call of Duty fans when Treyarch revealed a few months ago that the upcoming Black Ops 4 wouldn't feature a traditional single-player campaign, a first for the franchise.
Though CoD's bread and butter has always been its multiplayer suite, the bite-sized campaigns have nevertheless been an enjoyably breezy staple of the series, such that many fans expressed outrage at the perceived cost-cutting measure.
Black Ops 4 will still feature the typical multiplayer and Zombies modes, while introducing a new Battle Royale-type mode called Blackout, the full details of which have yet to be revealed.
Considering that reports stated Treyarch actually scrapped the single-player campaign mid-production, it can't help but seem a little sketchy. Rather than devote their resources to crafting an entertaining story mode, it seems as though Activision wanted to prioritise the multiplayer modes which can earn them added revenue with microtransactions.
It's not a good look, and unless you absolutely must own BO4 day one, you might want to wait for reviews on this one.
