15 Brutally Difficult Video Games That Totally Broke You

5. Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (1986 and 1993)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlTTJu-3mzY Following the worldwide success of the first Super Mario game a sequel was made in Japan in 1986 simply titled Super Mario Bros 2. However, developers thought that the game would be too hard for the North American market so the game didn't appear in the US mainstream until 1993 within the Super Mario All-Stars release which contained the first three Mario games and a bonus that was rebranded as The Lost Levels. The Japanese were quite right to assume it's difficulty would be an issue as the platformer was considerably harder than the original despite a near identical look and feel to the game, with the dreaded fake poison mushroom power-up being just the start of the endless obstacles haunting players. If you're a would be Mario Bros pro, then you have to give Lost Levels a go for a whole new level of challenging.
