15 Good Reasons To Hate Modern Gaming

Gamers live in a substantially different time than they did 15 years ago. Back then Nintendo was king and Sony had only been in the market for a couple years with the Playstation. We had game cartridges and memory cards and rumble packs. 3D gaming was a new and novel leap in technology, and it blew our minds. Most importantly, it was still a relatively obscure hobby that appealed to a certain niche of people. Now, most people play video games in some form or another. It has now become a billion dollar industry, rivaling both the film and music industries. With 4G phones, games are available on the go at all times and made to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Video games are a big part of our society, and they aren€™t going anywhere. Yet while there is certainly much to love about the direction video games have taken over the years, there is also much to despise. Like anything, when it becomes popular, certain practices begin taking place that those of us who have been doing it for so long can only scratch our heads at. I admit, my nostalgia does have a tendency to muddle my thought process, as is the case for anyone, but there are some aspects of modern gaming that are objectively awful and make gaming frustrating, lazy, and sometimes just plain insulting. Anyone reading this who is under the age of 10 or so probably has no idea what I am complaining about, but those of us who grew up in the 90€™s and early 2000€™s remember what it was like before it became mainstream, before businesses realized that games had monetary potential, and before the internet became the monster that it is. Without further adieu, I present to you 15 reasons to hate modern gaming.
