8. Garcia Hotspur (Shadows Of The Damned)

If you thought Francis York Morgan and SWERY were a suitably ludicrous pop culture-referencing pair, enter Garcia 'F*cking' Hotspur, developed by the barmy army over at Grasshopper Manufactured, and directed with explicitly ridiculous purpose by none other than Suda51 (who's a person, not a group).

Garcia himself is a purple leather-wearing Mexican demon hunter. One with a friend named Johnson, who happens to be a floating flaming skull, though the latter does double as a whopping great pistol and a motorcycle when necessary.

Naturally, the whole game is as freewheeling as this - Suda51 also created No More Heroes and the recent PS4 Souls-like Let it Die, to name but two - including endlessly self-referential humour about how games are designed, alongside fighting the most inventive enemies you've ever seen.

Watch any trailer, any cutscene, and single SECOND of Hotspur in action, and you'll 'get' director Suda51's irreverent humour. It really is something else.
