15. The Evil Within
While Amnesia is most likely to be a slow burn, The Evil Within is looking like slathering yourself in honey, walking into a fire ant nest and then pouring napalm over yourself for good measure. The Evil Within looks to be one of the most intense experiences of the year. It comes from Resident Evil creator Shinj Mikami who is returning to his horror roots to give us something that is shaping up to be utterly terrifying. Not too much is known about the game past a few previews, but it centers around Detective Sebastian becoming stuck in a world full of graphic and bloody monsters as he tries to understand the force he is up against. Heads up, this trailer is pretty intense. It is all live action and instead of being about the narrative of the game, it is just a series of nightmarish images. It is all pretty horrific. We are talking hard 18 horrific. We are talking being some extra underwear horrific. So yeah, consider yourself warned.
14. Grid 2
I loved the first Grid. For me, it is my favorite driving game of this generation. It was the perfect balance between Need for Speed extravagance and Gran Tarismo professional racing that made it not as frivulous of the former or as simulator based as the latter. However, there is a four year gap between releases and people may not remember the great first game or be crazy about giving it the time of day when they already have GT and NFS tucked away in their libraries. Here's hoping that Codemasters can really deliver on a great but accessible racing experience for the second time.
