18 Greatest Role-Playing Games Of The Decade (So Far)

6. The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

The Legend Of Zelda A Link Between Worlds
Nintendo

A masterclass in how to rekindle your roots, Nintendo took Zelda back to his top-down origins in 2013.

At this stage, if you've played any of the first few original entries in the series (A Link to the Past in particular) you'll know what to expect, and it's this approach to your viewpoint, that theme, the world design and the carefree nature of Link himself, that provides a nostalgic narrative punch it's easy to get pleasantly rocked by.

From puzzles to combat, the 'Seal of Quality' is present across the board as Nintendo took what could've been a simple premise (essentially remaking their 1992 release) and injected it with real innovation, changing the progression of how and when you unlock weapons, and thereby giving Link Between Worlds a brilliantly unique, hybridised identity.
