At this stage, 3D Mario is platforming perfection. It was 99% of the way there back in 1996 with Mario 64, and with a refined camera, Galaxy 1 and 2 were sublime experiences too.

For Mario Odyssey, Nintendo released yet another supremely polished experience, now with a mechanic that lets you control any animal or NPC you come across.

The results are of course hilarious and experimental across a gorgeous variety of worlds, retaining Mario's crown with ease.
