The size of the map may feel staggering to some, especially those looking to collect all pieces of the Apocalypse set, as the chest plate of this legendary armor can only be obtained by finding one randomly spawned NPC on the world map.

The Scribe is one of the unique NPCs whom you can invite to work as a merchant in your settlement, offering special merchandise that you cannot get otherwise. While most of these NPCs can be found by completing missions and checking major settlements, the Scribe is the only one whom you have to recruit by randomly coming across him on one of the many roads passing through the wasteland.

The encounter is completely random, and given that there are dozens of other unique random events that can trigger during your travels (some of which have priority in terms of appearance), most players finish the game without ever finding the Scribe.

The chestplate he sells is worth the search, however, as it offers decent protection and can also slow time when your health is low.
