19. Killer Inn

Ninja Gaiden 4
Square Enix

Square Enix are at the helm for one-night-only murder-mystery action game Killer Inn, which gathers a rag-tag group of characters at an ancient castle lost to time.

Rather than the usual assemblage of bystanders, suspects and detective-types we might expect from our Knives Out or our Poirot, Killer Inn’s guests are each “chosen ones” with unique styles and abilities that make the gameplay options potentially unlimited. With a whopping 24 characters to choose from, the group is split into “lambs” and “wolves”, who cavort around the estate solving puzzles, gathering weapons and either killing (wolves) or attempting to uncover the killers while not being slaughtered themselves (lambs).

Far from your ordinary mystery game, Killer Inn combines bluffing and misdirection with RPG-mechanic fast-paced action utilising an array of inventive weapons, plus slower-paced quests and plenty of secrets to uncover. In all, it’s a cops and robbers game of social deduction, and promises high player count matches that don’t descend into spamming, camping and nonsense.

Its second closed beta test is set to run from the 3rd to the 13th of October this year, with full release on Steam in 2026.
