20 Upcoming Games YOU NEED To Know About

1. 007 First Light

Ninja Gaiden 4
Io Interactive

While everyone else is arguing over whether Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hardy or Nicholas Hoult should be the next James Bond, we have our eye on Patrick Gibson, the man whose voice and likeness will provide the character’s next gaming iteration.

After 13 years and counting without a Bond game to speak of, 007 First Light is well on the way, developed by IO Interactive as a Bond origin story that eschews the aesthetics or setting or Ian Fleming’s novels and follows the Daniel Craig model, with an action focus, breakneck pacing and modernity coursing through it.

This time, Bond is a young recruit in MI6’s training program, who is less vodka martini and dinner suit, and more combat jacket and bloody fistfights. Rough around the edges and lacking the flair of a developed 007, this Bond offers the opportunity to get in on the ground level and attract players from across the spectrum.

IO are known for their Hitman games, and First Light looks to be taking this as its cue for intense stealth missions, combined with the kind of rough and tumble close quarters combat, FPS action and high-speed car chases we are used to from 007 gaming. And, if things go well, this is set up to be the first of a whole new trilogy of games.

It will hit the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on the 27th of March next year.
