20 Video Game Sequels NOBODY Defends

Don't even think about wasting your money on these terrible franchise games.

If you're a gamer, which you likely are given you're here, then you've no doubt felt that crushing feeling of franchise disappointment. Everyone has been there, grabbing the latest copy of one of their absolute favourite game series, only to be slapped in the face by a mediocre letdown.

The thing is, even some bad franchise entries have their fans, as faith in beloved IPs is often strong enough to help players overlook flaws. For example, Dark Souls 2 still has excellent PvP and atmosphere, Fable III took some big creative swings, and Fallout 76 got really fun after it was patched. You see these kinds of defences everywhere in gaming.

But what happens when a gaming sequel is so bad, so diabolical, so awful that it becomes unforgivable? Well, you can ask any of the entries on this list, as they hit that mark.

The following games were so maligned that even the biggest defenders of the series' couldn't save them. They're the games no one fights for, and are often pointed to as the absolute worst instalments in their respective franchises.

20. WWE 2K20 (2019)

Wrestling video games are a childhood staple of many. You don't even need to be a big fan of WWE or WCW to enjoy a good digital in-ring scrap. But the sad truth is that not every game is a winner, and the dreaded WWE 2K20 was definitely looking up at the lights when it rolled around.

WWE had already been delivering yearly releases for well over a decade by the time this game hit the shelves. Still, this title - the seventh instalment under the 2K Sports banner - made it clear that this unbelievable workload was taking its toll.

So, what was wrong with the game? Well, it's easier to list the things that were right with it, as it failed on almost every level. The gameplay was sluggish, the character models looked awful, and it had more bugs than an ant hill. On top of that, it was barren and lacked content, so even if it did work well, it'd still be disappointing.

There are many crappy wrestling games people forgive due to nostalgia, but this isn't one of them.
