20 Video Game Villains You Never Realised Got The Last Laugh
17. Alfred Kamm - Velvet Assassin
Velvet Assassin is a stealth video game in which you play as a female British spy, Violette, infiltrating the Nazi forces during the events of World War II.
The main character is an absolute badass, with several successful missions to her name, including all manner of fast-paced action and clever intrigues.
And yet, despite all of the skills and competence she displays, at the end of the day, it is actually her enemies who end up winning.
The game’s ending might be one of the bleakest conclusions to a story that a game in 2009 could’ve produced. One of Violette’s targets, a Nazi officer by the name of Alfred Kamm, turns out to have survived the explosion that the spy had set up for him.
When Violette is about to save a group of people that Nazis have trapped inside a church, she collapses from exhaustion, and Kamm arrives at the scene to capture her, and then he puts her in a hospital.
The people Violette meant to save are burned alive, and the secret agent falls into the hands of her enemies, comatose and at the mercy of a ruthless Nazi soldier with a personal vendetta against her.
It’s a WWII game, but man, if that’s not some really dark stuff.
