Almost exactly a year after Gears Of War barged its way onto the Xbox 360 and smashed records left, right and centre, Naughty Dog came to Sony's rescue with an iconic mascot of their own for the PlayStation 3. The male version of Lara Croft and gaming's answer to Indiana Jones; Nate goes by many different pseudonyms. But don't let the character's obvious inspiration fool you - the career tomb raider (ha!) is very much his own man with a very distinct personality. Drake's the people's hero. He has no riches (to speak of), steady career, special powers or secret organisation at his back - he's simply a normal guy that loves to indulge in the odd spell of treasure hunting. By design, he's the face of the people, relying on nothing but his own wit and athleticism to get the job done. He may not be a superhero, but Drake's something much, much better. He's the patron saint of treasure hunters - far greater than the sum of his parts and a worthy successor to those who inspired him.
