8 More Video Games That KNEW You'd Try To Cheat

Sometimes video game cheats become as iconic, if not more so than the game they're actually from themselves. In fact, in cases like the Konami Code, it's pretty much become a cultural milestone that permeates the entire industry. As such, many titles that came after Contra, also included the Konami Code in their titles which would usually reward the player in different ways.

Yet some developers seek only to punish those that cheat, especially those who think that old codes would unlock cool features in new games, and there is no better example of this than in Heretic, a game published by the creators of the outstanding DOOM franchise.

Should you try to use the DOOM codes to unlock God Mode or to gain access to all weapons, you'd find the exact opposite thing happening to you, with your character being insta-killed and all your weapons taken away bar the wooden staff respectively!

These humorous but deadly moments were clearly the devs having a laugh at those thinking they could use the past to help them cheat their way to a better future.
