8 Worthless Video Game Items You NEVER Used

It's fair to say that a video game hero is sometimes only as good as their equipment. Sure, you might have the balls to give the middle finger to the big bad of the land, but unless you've got some considerably beefy armor and a hefty sword or twelve at your disposal, you might well be squashed like a bug.

Therefore the quest to take down great evils in video games usually go hand in hand with finding better equipment and loot in order to make that final showdown a little bit easier. Through your journeys you might pick up axes that can cleave mountains in two, guns that fire magical lava, and helmets that let you commune with animals to get them on your side. However, not all video game items are created equal, as the eight that make up this list well prove.

These items won't find any playtime except by those trying them out for the first time before realizing what utter bargain bin trash they are. In fact, some of these are SO bad, they're the items that prop up the wobbly legs of the bin itself!

As anyone who's played even a minute or two of FromSoftware's fantastic Bloodborne will be able to tell you, this is NOT Dark Souls. Created as the almost anthises to the former series' "block and turtle poke" strategies, Bloodborne is all about dodging, and will punish those who aren't quick enough or who try to rely on tactics that got them through the sister franchise.

Something that makes this philosophy crystal clear is the Wooden Shield, a paltry few planks that have been stapled together, taken from what looks like a rotten shed. This item is utterly worthless, barely blocking damage and removing access of one of your weapons, which in this game is like tying one arm behind your back and trying to wrestle a greasy pig.

FromSoft knew entirely what they were doing and to be honest it's not even an inclusion that you can get mad about; if you're relying on blocking then you're not going to get far here, so do yourself a favour and bin off this would be buckler.
