9 Reasons You Shouldn't Buy A PS4 Pro
2. It Might Not Even Support Your 4K TV
This one's a killer.
Brand new consoles almost always have jitters: Faulty hardware, the occasional design oversight, or maybe it's simply just loud. But not many of them are as bad as refusing to output a picture to your gorgeous TV - especially a console built around a better picture in the first place!
The PS4's 4.05 update comes with a little bit of a nasty surprise - your PS4 Pro may put out a gorgeous picture when you plug it in, but once the update finishes, you may find that your television simply doesn't show any output anymore.
This is a fault that isn't limited to specific brands, either - it hasn't been tied to any specific brand or reason for failure, and isn't even consistent in which TVs it fails. You're basically gambling that your new purchase will even work.
Even Sony themselves seem a bit in the dark on what to do - their current advice for the failure is simply to enter the safety menu and force your console to output a lesser HDCP qualification. This is an imperfect solution that doesn't work all the time, and comes with a particularly huge drawback of preventing streaming video, like Netflix and Amazon Video, from putting out 4K video.
