Angry Birds Space Preview, Released March 22nd

Rovio's new inter-planetary pork butchery set for a late March release.

If you were to stack every dollar that Angry Birds creators Rovio have made from the 700 million or so downloads and tie-in sales of their porcine bashing game, the resulting pile would probably reach well beyond the moon, so it's fitting that their next Angry Birds title will go inter-planetary. It seems that now they've taken over the world, the developer's have their eyes set firmly on the next step, with Angry Birds Space arriving on March 22nd. The game will feature 60 new levels and six brand new characters (a cuboid one can be seen in the image above), as well as two new major gameplay mechanics including new powers and gravity field feature that fundamentally changes player approach and strategy, rather than just porting the existing gameplay out into space. Here'z the announcement trailer, featuring a Nasa astronaut. Good to see that the American space programme isn't completely dead or pointless. When Yuri Gagarin was making that first historic journey, I'm pretty sure that this was exactly what he had in mind for fifty years down the evolutionary road... http://youtu.be/lxI1L1RiSJQ The 60 basic levels are supplemented by the Danger Zone, a collection of 30 extra-tough levels that will be released as an in-app purchase for those who want the extra challenge. We can also probably expect additional level packs, and the same kind of fun that has made Angry Birds one of the most bankable games titles on the current market. You can see some of the new level design below thanks to Samsung, whose new Galaxy Note will feature an exclusive bonus level, which inspired its own character - the Lazer Bird: http://youtu.be/10eHOnufWkA
