Assassin's Creed Egypt: 11 Leaked Details You're Not Supposed To Know
Ubisoft are doing the only thing that makes sense... and rebooting the entire franchise.
Remember when Assassin's Creed was new, innovative and interesting? Neither do Ubisoft. The series has become so long in the tooth it's in danger a Witcher being called in to put it out its misery, but in an attempt to address the convoluted time-hopping mess they now call a 'plot', this year is reportedly being missed out in favour of rebooting the franchise in 2017.
In addition to the recent leak, Ubi registered 'Assassin's Creed Collection' as a trademark back in December 2015, essentially giving fans a regular dose of AC to tide them over later this year if true, and bolstering the idea of a reboot by reminding us of 'the good old days' before kickstarting the next proper instalment.
All information comes from a substantial post over on 4Chan where an Ubisoft developer has randomly taken to the forums to stir the pot a little. Obviously this could all be hogwash, but there's something about Ubi finally taking a year off and a step back that gives credence and hope to whatever they return with.
The big question though, is whether you could ever care about Assassin's Creed as much as they need you to, as their only other course of action is Watch Dogs 2, and nobody wants that.
