Battlefield 6 RETURNING To Modern Day Setting

With EA keeping everything other than the release date for Battlefield 6 close to its chest, fans have been left wondering just what form DICE's anticipated sequel is going to take when it drops in a few years time.

Fortunately, one major detail has now made its way online: the game's setting. Initially reported by insiders over at Resetera and backed up by VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb, it seems as though the next Battlefield will be trading historical conflicts for one set in the modern day.

The previous two instalments have tackled WW1 and WW2 respectively, with the last contemporary-set Battlefield being 2013's Battlefield 4. Bringing the action to the present does seem like the next logical step, then, especially following the huge success of 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
