Call of Duty is one of the most famous franchises in gaming, up there with Sonic, Mario and Jet Set Willy. Ok, maybe not that last one. It really can't be overstated just how popular the series is, and the games have proven to be incredibly lucrative cash cows. With this popularity comes some rather large figures, beyond just those in the bank accounts of Activision. For example, Black Ops II was the largest entertainment launch of all time until Grand Theft Auto V stole its crown, and that's including every Hollywood blockbuster. The craziest statistic released by Activision though, is that over one hundred million people have played a Call of Duty game.
