Call Of Duty: 10 Wars Activision Will NEVER Feature
Conclusions
The fact of the matter is that Call of Duty seems to have moved on from the historical to the modern, so there are probably ten more wars I could have placed in this list that would prove to be correct. However, while some may debate that COD will never do something in the First Gulf War, or the Korean Theatre, I think they are eminently more possible than the conflicts on the list. Fact is, that videos games as a whole are not going to be interested in seeking out controversial subjects unless there is a commercial appeal. Mortal Kombat is commercially appealing because of the blood and gore, but that makes it controversial as well. Furthermore, while Call of Duty's brand is now big enough to go beyond obvious theatres of war like World War II, there is no doubt that there is huge amounts of pressure for every COD to be a hit. Therefore, why would they risk it by staging the next Call of Duty in a theatre of war synonymous with child soldiers or ethnic cleansing? Or just as bad, would they risk having it set in a place that nobody knows or cares about? With the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series', Call of Duty is now attempting to bypass the problems by staging the battles in places where they have complete control- imagined battles in the future. The days of historical warfare could well be over. Do you agree? Or do you think there are other wars COD will not touch? Let me know below!
