When it comes down to it, what elevates the Black Ops sub-series over the rest of the Call of Duty games doesn't have anything to do with weapons, specialists or time periods. It's the level design.

Ever since the original game (and arguably World at War), Treyarch have been creating some of the franchise's best multiplayer playgrounds, arguably delivering the most iconic COD level ever in Nuketown.

Getting more complex with each new title, the fourth game has returned to the boots-on-the-ground gameplay that series veterans love, but that hasn't meant the devs have scaled anything back, and instead have doubled down on some of the more interesting ideas they introduced in BLOPS 3.

Mix in a few classic staples reimagined for the latest title, and you have one of the best collection of multiplayer maps this side of Call of Duty 4.
