E3 2017: 10 Major Reveals & Announcements We Need To See
2. Metroid Prime Finally Gets A Sequel
Years have gone by without even a glimmer of hope for a new Metroid game (the watered down 3DS version doesn't really count, as it chose to focus on shooting mechanics over exploration, and was considered a commercial failure).
The last Metroid game was in 2010, and despite being met with generally good reviews, Nintendo never thought to make a sequel to probably the most requested series in the past 10 years.
The Metroid Prime Trilogy was extremely controversial at release too, as it was a first-person shooter instead of the more traditional 2D platformer, and was overseen by an American developer; Retro Studios. Despite that, the trilogy became an immense success, spanning remakes for the Wii and Wii U, with updated visuals and controls.
A sequel would be a wonderful use of arguably one of Nintendo's most well-known IPs, and would delight fans to have a chance to experience a fully-fledged, HD Samus adventure on a portable basis.
