The Etrian Odyssey series has been a stalwart franchise for the 3DS, and the latest entry (a direct sequel to part V) is said to be the last hurrah for the series on its championed console - so fans receive it with bittersweet anticipation.
The titles are essentially a JRPG spin on the dungeon crawler, with the use of the 3DS’s secondary screen offering an appealing hook for map navigation.
The story has never been a strong point, but if you are looking for a lengthy and challenging title to play on the go, there's absolutely no reason to believe this latest entry will disappoint.
