90s cult title Toejam & Earl was a wicked spoof on the flood of generic video game mascots of the time. Its subversive tale was full of offbeat design, mature and quirky humour and interesting gameplay.
The franchise petered out eventually - but in recent times, Greg Johnson the original series creator, returned with a Kickstarter campaign to bring it back. It was a success with even Adult Swim came in as a publisher.
The modern indie scene is a great fit for the franchise - let's hope it can bring back that old magic.
